When you think of Jim Irsay you think football, right? Well the Colts owner has also taken on reputation for an impressive collection of some rare instruments from some of the greatest musicians in the world. Over the weekend, Irsay had the high bid for the Steinway grand piano pictured below. At $915,000, makes you wonder if he would have gone over a million dollars had a bidding war escalated. He’s also the owner of drum kits from Ringo Starr, guitars from Jimi Hendrix and Paul McCartney and many other pieces. The football tycoon has made it his mission to preserve some of these iconic instruments for the sake of history and for others to see and enjoy for decades to come. Irsay has had a few of these instruments on display at the Rhythm Discover Center in the Claypool Court Building. I’m thinking this needs to be a permanent fixture somewhere allowing fans to see all of his collection!
