‘Deliverance’ Actor Ned Beatty Has Died At 83

An actor known for stealing a scene with his incredible facial expressions and true love for the craft has died. Ned Beatty passed away yesterday of natural causes. He was 83. Beatty had a very impressive resume of theater, movies, and TV performances, probably most memorable from ‘Deliverance’, ‘Superman’, ‘The Toy’,  ‘Stroker Ace’, and ‘Network’. Many young (and old) fans of the ‘Toy Story’ franchise with Sheriff Woody and Buzz Lightyear may not realized that it was Beatty as the voice of the evil teddy bear, “Lots-O” in ‘Toy Story 3’.

I became a fan of Beatty when I first saw him playing the bumbling assistant ‘Ottis’ in ‘Superman’. I’d later discover his acting abilities seeing him in ‘Stroker Ace’, with Burt Reynolds. The pair had already made history in 1972 with a film called, ‘Deliverance’. Watch as the cast reunited in 2012 for the film’s 40th anniversary for a very interesting interview…
