We’ve all had bad hair days, but it’s even harder when you’re a teenager. Thankfully, a young man at Stonybrook Intermediate Middle School in Warren Township has a patient principal who also knows how to use a hair trimmer! The student didn’t want to remove his hat in school recently because he felt it was a little off and thought the other students would make fun of it. He was sent to the office for not following the rules and that’s when Dr. Jason Smith went to work. He offered to cut the young man’s hair, instead of sending him to detention or home. The answer isn’t always black or white. I grew up with several teachers like Dr. Smith. They looked for solutions rather than just hand out discipline. There’s a real art to that. Thank you Dr. Smith for your kindness and leadership.
