I’m all about coming up with clever ways to help kids learn to read, but this is moronic. Out with “Dick & Jane”, because students in one Pittsburgh ELEMENTARY school were given a reading assignment about two boys RUNNING from police! In a statement from the school district, it read in part: “The worksheet is not a part of the District’s curriculum or intervention programs”.  Teachers apparently have flexibility in their classrooms, but whoever thought this assignment was a good idea needs detention~
