Life throws all of us surprises from time to time…but imagine learning, as an adult, that your biological father is MICHAEL MCDONALD, of The Doobie Brothers! That’s exactly what Michael Goessling, who resides in St. Louis, learned after taking a DNA test. He was adopted as a child and never knew who his parents were. Turns out, when McDonald was 14 YEARS OLD, he and his girlfriend (also 14 at the time), had a baby. Considering their age, I’d imagine they felt the best decision was to put their baby up for adoption. Flashforward to today when Goessling has reconnected with McDonald. As you’ll see in this news report below from KMOV, McDonald gave a lot of credit to the adoptive parents who were there to care for and raise his biological son. Goessling said when they first met, McDonald gave him a big bear hug. I cannot imagine what that felt like, from either Goessling or McDonald’s perspective. As a father myself, I would lay down in traffic and give my life before I would ever allow anything to harm my son. So I’m sure it was probably the toughest decision McDonald made back when he was just a teenager~
