My son Reed turns 9 months old this week, and to celebrate we made a quick pit stop to see the doc yesterday. Pink eye..yippy! I guess all of my efforts to shield Reed from sick family and friends, or wipe down his toys and highchair were in vain. I mean the kid puts EVERYTHING in his mouth!…so I’m not exactly surprised that he picked up an eye infection, coupled with a runny nose and cough.
At the doctor office yesterday, the nurse told me to strip my son down and put him in a clean diaper. So as I start doing this, she continues asking me questions. Now Reed is at the crawling stage and is extremely active. So I’m trying to juggle him, get the diaper ready and talk with the nurse. I took my eyes off of Reed for 3 seconds and as I look back at him I realize he has just peed all over me! He does this ALL the time to my wife Jenni at home, and I tease her that she’s never prepared for his spontaneous potty break…but now it was me who wasn’t prepared. And every time Reed pees while being changed, he sports a devilish smile and sometime a giggle, like he knows what he’s doing! Is it strange that I’m use to having his boogers, spit, pee and spit up on me now, and I don’t even care? I’m too exhausted to even notice half the time. Fatherhood aint for sissies~
