OK, why does the “Super Athlete” robot make me nervous?
Because I saw the 2004 movie, “I, Robot” starring Will Smith!
The movie is about highly intelligent robots that fill public service positions throughout the world, operating under the Three Laws of Robotics to keep humans safe.
And if you’ve seen the movie, you know what happens next. And robots, they don’t have emotions! They have a mission! An assignment! And they will do whatever it takes to complete that mission. No excuses. No giving up.
And today, I see the video of the “super athlete” model robot from a Chinese robotics company called Unitree. And this robot is off the charts! It’s amazing! And I’m thinking “what if these robots are used in the military”? They would be unstoppable!
And let’s ask that SciFi question: “What if these robots decide to take over”?
