Central Indiana experienced two days of ‘Heat Advisories’ this week, with the heat index close to 110 degrees. Those are temperatures that can be life threatening. A 14-year-old boy was riding his bike recently in Arizona when he came across a older woman who was walking and appeared to be confused. Something didn’t seem right, so the boy stopped and talked with her, realizing she was confused and over heated. The young man got her to a shaded area and then phoned emergency personnel. He was also able to help her remember her son’s phone number, and called him. Turns out, the woman has dementia and had been lost, out wandering from her home. As you’ll see in this news report from LOCAL 12 in Arizona, the boy is being hailed as a true hero. A good example even for us in Indiana, where the heat has been brutal lately, that if something seems ‘out of place’, say something and do something. If you see some kids in a car, unattended during this summer heat, call 9-1-1. Better to save a life than have regrets~
