We’ve all seen those incredible half court shots that a fan makes during the halftime of a game, scoring them a HUGE prize! The Washington Wizards attempted to pull off a funny April Fool’s Day stunt this week that unfortunately backfired. According to our news partner, CBS 4, during the Wizard’s game this April 1st, they brought out a ‘planted’ fan from the stands and had him attempt a half court shot, blindfolded. He missed the shot, but when they took off the blindfold, they made it appear that he made it and was given a giant check for $10,000! But then they had the ‘fan’ watch the replay on the jumbotron screen only to show him he didn’t make it and did not win the prize money. Apparently many viewers watching the game felt like the Wizards pulled a fast one on the fan, not knowing he was hired to be a part of this April Fool’s Day skit. The Wizards apologized on social media, and I’m guessing they explained it was all a pre-planned stunt. I don’t think they needed to apologize! It was an April Fool’s Day stunt and it worked!
The Wizards played an April Fools prank on this guy by making him think he hit a blindfolded shot & won $10k
