In this day and age of advertisements every where you look, not surprising that Olympian Nick Symmonds is auctioning off ad space on his body…again. He first sold ad space on his shoulder back in 2012 for $11,000. And now as his prepares and hopes to compete as a runner in the 2016 Summer Olympic games in Brazil, Symmonds is at it again. Here’s the description he posted online: “The winner of this auction is free to use the 9 square inches of advertising space how they choose, but the advertisement must take the form of a logo, website URL, and/or social media username. The advertisement will be adhered to my shoulder as a temporary tattoo.” I’m pretty sure that there’s fine print that will stipulate what the winning bidder can and cannot print in their ad. Symmonds surly doesn’t want some X rated film company’s website tattooed on his body! So is he doing this for the money? No, not exactly. Symmonds has a bone to pick with the Olympic committee that sets the rules regarding ad placement during the Olympics track and field competition.
