Steve Stuart. Who would have thunk it? Loves his rock and roll, loves football, loves surfing, skateboarding, the beach AND birds? Yeah, Stu’s a “bird nerd”?
Yeah, it’s true! He’s got 13 feeders in his back yard, (actually Nikki and some of the other folks at work are responsible for one of those feeders), 2 bird baths, and 8 different nesting boxes in the back/front yard. Believe it or not, his backyard is a certified “wildlife habitat” with the Department of Natural Resources. (#177061)
And this is the time of year that Stu looks forward to….spring migration! (He used to plan vacations around spring migration!) He’s already seen various migrants moving through the area including sandhill cranes, yellow-rumped warblers, grackles, and red-winged blackbirds.
And with some of the great weather we’ve been enjoying, Stu has been getting some house wren boxes hung in the back and front yard……he had three broods from 2 different houses last year and hoping the wrens come back again this year.
The boxes you see throughout this post are actually the houses in Stu’s yard.
