One of the legendary bands heard on 104-5 WJJK is mourning the loss of one of their own this week. Glenn Frey of The Eagles died yesterday of complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis, and pneumonia. He was 67. Apparently the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer had been battling intestinal issues for months and had major surgery back in November. His condition took a turn for the worse over the weekend. Fellow band mate Don Henley said, quote, “He was like a brother to me. We were family, and like most families, there was some dysfunction. But the bond we forged 45 years ago was never broken, even during the 14 years that the Eagles were dissolved . . . It’ll be very strange going forward in a world without him in it. But I’ll be grateful, every day, that he was in my life.”
A couple of years ago, an excellent ‘rocumentary’ was created about The Eagles. Check out the trailer below to remember why Glen Frey and The Eagles are easily one of the greatest American bands.
