Have you heard about the “homeless Jesus” statues that are popping up around the nation?
And yes, Indianapolis has purchased one of the works of art for $40,000.00 and you can find it near Massachusetts and Alabama Avenue.
Well, these statues are creating controversy for several reasons…..
First of all, the price tag: $40,000.00. A lot of folks argue that the amount of money paid for the statue could have fed and sheltered several homeless people in the area. Secondly, many are arguing that the piece will attract more homeless individuals to a particular area. And thirdly, many churches are calling the statue “sacrilegious”.
