…Yesterday marked what would have been George Harrison’s 72nd birthday, and life was born once again. An LA City Council member along with many fans decided to plant a Yew Pine in honor of the former Beatle. You might recall that the George Harrison Tree that was planted back in 2002, shortly after Harrison died, died itself. And as irony would have it, the tree’s grim reaper were beetles. Infestation. The new replacement tree was planted in Griffith Park in Los Angeles. Organizers wanted to continue paying tribute to the former Beatle for being a wonderful humanitarian but also tying into his love for gardening. A bronze plaque was also erected to honor Harrison, along with the City Council proclaiming February 25th as “George Harrison Day” in L.A.
