Olympic champion Bruce Jenner has been in the news quite a bit recently, deciding that it’s time that he be true to himself…or I should say, herself. Jenner has explained that he feels more comfortable as a woman. I can’t begin to imagine what that’s like, looking in the mirror everyday for decades, feeling you should be the opposite gender. Of course our society deals with such matters generally by snickering and pointing and laughing. Is this a bit odd, yes it is. But Jenner is a human being, and I’m sure this hasn’t been easy. Let’s face it, life is a one shot deal (as far as we know, right?) so shouldn’t we all be happy, as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else? True, this has a HUGE impact on his wife, children and other family members. But ultimately, it’s Jenner’s life. I’ve heard people say, “I don’t really care, but I just wish he wouldn’t make such a big deal about his transformation”. First, his family is a part of a successful reality TV show, so the drama only draws in more viewers. And second, by Jenner being so public with his decision, he perhaps is helping others who are struggling with a similar decision. Seeing Jenner may help them realize that they don’t have to suffer thru depression over their identity. And again, at the end of the day, it’s Caitlyn Jenner’s life.

Of course millions of fans will always remember Bruce from a box of Wheaties, and as one of the greatest Olympic athletes to represent America.
