Fellow fans of ‘A Christmas Story’ will be envious of residents of Chickasaw, Oklahoma. The town of 16,000+ residents recently erected a 40 tall leg lamp, just like the one from the 1983 classic Christmas movie. The town treasurer had originally thought even bigger, picturing a 150 foot tall leg lamp! I love this! Talk about brightening spirits, especially this year. Many small communities across the country have oversized items to attract attention. Even in Indiana you’ll find a giant rocking chair near Buckerhill. There’s a 17 foot tall praying mantis in Kokomo! Watch this news report from KFOR, as they learn more about the interesting tie in between the creator of the first leg lamp and Chickasaw.
