A runner from Penn High School did something at the state cross country meet that has gained him national attention. He didn’t win in record time, and for that matter, he actually came in towards the back of the pack. Indy Star reported that Ben Boardley was close to the finish line when he saw competitor Faizan Khan from another school fall and struggle to keep going. Ben stopped to help him finish the race. How many athletes would do that?! When asked what motivated him to do such a thing, he replied to the Indy Star, “I just kind of saw it and did it. I guess that’s how my parents raised me. They taught me to treat others how I’d want to be treated, and to be helpful when I can.” That’s exactly the kind of attitude and heart I want my 4 year old to have one day. Watch the video…
I have no idea who these two high school runners were, but great sportsmanship by one of the boys to help a fellow competitor who was struggling to finish. pic.twitter.com/cx90k85fHc
