Checking the calendar today, you’ll notice it’s 9/25, but you’ll hear people referring to it as ‘9-2-5’ in honor of Dolly Parton. The country music legend was probably best known for the movie and her song, ‘9 to 5’ with Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda and Dabney Coleman in 1980.
There are plenty of ways you can give back on this first ‘9-2-5 Day’:
Helping an elderly neighbor with their yard or picking up groceries for them.
Maybe paying for coffee for the customer behind you in the drive-thru today.
Dolly Parton was a big advocate for reading to children and helping provide books around the world. Consider hosting even a small book drive this month at your place of work, church or neighborhood.
You can even make a donation to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, with locations all around the world, even an Indiana chapter. Click here to make a financial donation: https://donate.imaginationlibrary.com/
