I’ve heard of a ‘wild pitch’ in baseball, but this is ridiculous! A youth baseball coach out of Oklahoma has been banned for life after his son intentionally pitched a fastball into the opposing team’s dugout! Are you kidding me?! The pitcher, again, a CHILD, has been banned for only five years. According to USA Today, the coach supposedly instructed his 12-year old son to pull off this incredibly dangerous stunt. Thankfully, no one was injured and an investigation is underway. I have been the coach of several of my son’s baseball teams over the last few years and as competitive as I am, I would never in a million years think this was a good idea. This coach obviously had some issues with the other team and clearly has some mental issues! Why on earth would you ever instruct your child do attempt to harm someone else??? And I’m torn on this because the pitcher, again who is 12-years old, has been suspended for five years. He’s a pre-teen so it’s not like he was 7 years old. The punishment should be steeper than just 5 years in my opinion. Someone text into the Morning Show and tried to defend the pitcher saying that he was under the pressure of his father and had he not followed his dad’s orders, he would have been in trouble later at home. Possibly, but that still doesn’t justify committing this very reckless act. I agree with our listener that it sounds like there’s some real issues at this coach’s home. This truly makes my heart sad. Baseball is a fun game and even though it can become competitive like any sport, it should never cross the line and put anyone in danger.
