Ooooooooops!
I know a lot of kids in high school compare school lunches to dirt, but some high schoolers at a school in Maine were recently served dirt! Yes, real dirt! A delicious dish of baked dirt was served during a high school community supper.
Not a prank, and not on purpose! Here’s how it happened:
Earlier in the day, students had baked potting soil as part of a science activity, to sterilize it, so they could later test plant growth. The soil had been placed in a baking dish, covered with foil, and set off to the side.
During the meal, the dish of dirt was accidentally grabbed and brought out. Only three students ate the soil, thinking it was some kind of dessert, but immediately realized it tasted like dirt!
The school admitted and owned the mistake, and said it was an “unfortunate incident”.
