Talk about total madness! With gas prices as high as $4.99 a gallon here in Indiana, police have responded to reports of thieves actually DRILLING INTO OTHER’S GAS TANKS to steal the fuel! Even though most gas tanks on vehicles these days aren’t made out of metal (most are a tough plastic material) drilling into the tank could cause a spark or produce enough friction and heat that it could set off an explosion! Now, I haven’t heard of any morons doing something this stupid here in Indiana, but I wouldn’t put it past a desperate criminal looking for some cheap gas. Even if a thief were able to drill into a gas tank, what would they use to collect the stollen gas, Tupperware containers?!?
