Let’s review a couple of dating terms:
“Ghosting”: The abrupt, unannounced, and unexplained cessation of all communication by one partner. It involves ignoring texts, calls, and social media. It’s essentially “disappearing” to avoid confrontation.
“Gaslighting”: A form of emotional abuse where one partner uses manipulation, lies, and denial to make the other question their own reality, memory, perceptions, or sanity.
And now, there’s a mash-up of ghosting and gaslighting called “Ghostlighting”.
Ghostlighting is when you ghost someone and stop responding, get called out for it, then act like it didn’t happen, or tell the person they’re crazy!
You know, like, you claim you were just really busy with work. You ghost them. Then, randomly slide back into their DMs later and act like it was no big deal.
