I gotta admit, like most people, I have a certain amount of vanity…especially when I was younger. I felt like my ears stuck out a little too much, so I taped them back with some masking tape. After about 10 minutes, I realized that was stupid (and realized my ears weren’t going to bend back closer to my head). That moment of vanity pales in comparison to a dangerous new trend on social media called, ‘bone smashing’. It’s the act of hitting your face with a hammer to get better cheekbones. Are you kidding me??! DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS. Experts warn that it can obviously cause broken bones, infection, bleeding and bruising. If you or someone you know (especially a young person) is obsessed with their looks and is considering trying this, they need counseling. A therapist can help them with their desire to change their looks and even discuss with them the dangers of ‘bone smashing’.
