And these hair bands, whenever they released an album, they would usually release a “banger” to grab your attention and get plenty of video play on MTV, and the second tune would usually be a “power ballad”. You know, a slow-tempo rock song known with tons of emotional intensity, often starting soft and building to a loud, powerful climax with soaring vocals, distorted guitars, and heavy drums, typically expressing themes of love or heartache or the one that got away!
