Over the last few years, I’ve noticed more and more churches wanting to ‘up their game’ when it comes to reenacting the birth of Christ around Christmastime. It’s not enough to have a life size nativity set outside in front of the church, or even inside near the alter. Many churches are ‘renting’ camels and other animals to bring the Nativity scene to life. Only problem, these are animals and sometimes they act out. As was the case recently in Houston, Texas at a megachurch, in which they paraded camels down the isles INSIDE the sanctuary!! As you’ll see in the video below, guests were almost shocked and in some cases, scared of these large beasts just a few inches away from them! Unfortunately, one of the camels either became startled or needed to stretch their legs, and kicked a woman seated in a nearby pew! According the news reports, she was treated at a hospital and is recovering. This might be a good reminder to other churches to ‘dial it back’ a notch and keep everyone safe while celebrating Christmas~
