Billy Joel fans were shocked with his recent announcement that he’s cancelling all of his shows because of a brain disorder. It’s called Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus and basically happens where there is excessive fluid in the brain. Billy’s team released a statement saying that his condition worsened with performances lately, affecting his hearing, vision and balance. He’s now undergoing physical therapy and, “has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period”. Billy’s wife, Alexis, took to social media thanking fans and saying, “We are so grateful to the wonderful care and swift diagnosis we received . . . We are hopeful for his recovery. We look forward to seeing you all in the future.”
Obviously fans hoping see him him in concert are disappointed, but this is a pretty big deal. Billy is 76 and has been in good shape so let’s hope this is just a minor setback, allowing him to return to the piano soon. Get well Billy~
