Every Groundhog Day, we anxiously await to see if a certain groundhog will appear and see his shadow. The famous and loved Punxsutawney Phil is cherished by millions, especially in Pennsylvania, every February 2nd. Well, there’s one group that wants to see Phil retired to “reputable animal sanctuary”. PETA, the animal rights activist group, has said if Phil goes into retirement, they’ll provide a ‘Weather Reveal Vegan Cake’. Uh, say what? Yea, much like a gender reveal cake or event, if we see ‘blue’ when the cake is cut, there will be six more weeks of winter. But if they see pink in the cake, that means an early spring. Nope, not on board. It’s tradition, and by the way, Phil is treated VERY well (see video below)
Let them eat vegan cake!
We can keep the tradition alive—without exploiting animals—with a playful take on gender reveal cakes! If the cake is blue, expect six more weeks of winter; if it’s pink, an early spring.
