
Drew Barrymore defended her former co-star Hugh Grant on Friday smack dab in the middle of controversy over whether he was rude to model Ashley Graham on the Oscars red carpet.
A video of Graham interviewing Grant at Sunday’s Academy Awards ceremony went viral earlier this week, with some people decrying Grant’s curt responses and possible eye roll.
Barrymore, who appeared alongside Grant in 2007′s “Music and Lyrics,” had her own interpretation: The actor was simply being his “grumpy” self.
In Grant’s defense he also had plenty of defenders. Some found his lack of enthusiasm for small talk pretty relatable. But in the end The Oscars is Hollywood’s biggest night to honor film and the men and women who make the movies, which charge fans big bucks to pay their bills. I’m a huge movie buff, and it seems a little bit of politeness could be extended on the red carpet for this big night keep the eye roll if you must but at least answer a question.
