Sammy Hagar takes pride in being the first celeb to have a popular tequila brand … which is why he recently shared on a podcast that selling it was the craziest thing to ever happen to him!
“My first intention was just to have this little tequila brand for my friends at the cantina and then bring it to America,” The Red Rocker says. “I thought it’d be awesome if we did 10,000 cases a year. Our first year, we sold 37,000 cases. Then it exploded and it really started getting away from me, because I’m not a good day-to-day business guy.
Former Van Halen star, professional rock and roller, and tequila connoisseur, Sammy Hagar, is $80 million richer after selling a controlling interest in his Cabo Wabo tequila to an Italian spirits company.
Gruppo Campari bosses bought 80 per cent of the business from the rocker, who founded the brand in 1996. Hear what Sammy said when he was first approached by the Campari big wigs here: Courtesy:YouTube
