Take a sad song and make . . . a fortune!
The handwritten lyrics to the iconic Beatles song “Hey Jude,” penned by Paul McCartney, sold at auction on Friday for an extraordinary $910,000 — more than five times the estimated value.
McCartney had written the classic tune to console Julian Lennon, the then-5-year-old son of bandmate and friend John Lennon, who had recently dumped first wife, Cynthia, for Yoko Ono.
Julian Lennon recently opened up about his love/hate relationship with the iconic song and he also revealed that he enjoyed the new “Beatles: Get Back” docudrama because it showed a sweet side of his father.
Considering this was the documentary that caused Paul McCartney to change his perspective on the band’s split and John Lennon’s son, Julian Lennon, to say that watching it was a “life changing experience for him” it was always going to be pretty fascinating. Beatles: Get Back deserves another watch if you haven’t done it yet. Courtesy:YouTube
