Sometimes being a little homesick can be a good thing. Billy Joel, being the New Yorker that he is, knows that all too well. He opened up to Rolling Stone magazine recently, talking about when he lived out west and longed to return ‘home’. That inspired him to create his classic hit, ‘New York State Of Mind’ in the mid 70s. The live version below, recorded in San Fransisco will appear on his upcoming album, ‘The Vinyl Collection Vol. 1’ set to be released next Friday November 5th. I love this version. Billy’s voice is so pure and you can really hear his passion and devotion for the Empire State. The album will be a perfect present for that Billy Joel fan on your Christmas list~
