The Grammy’s really dropped the ball last night in remembering one of the greatest guitarists of all time. One of Eddie’s guitars was propped up on stage with his photo behind it. That was it. One of the most pathetic memorials in the history of the Grammys! You would think that Eddie Van Halen would be a little more deserving of a special segment, perhaps even using his son, Wolfgang. He could have played his tribute song ‘Distance’. I get it that there are other artists that the award show has to recognize and they try to keep it contained to a certain amount of time, but come on. Yes, Neil Peart from Rush died last year, along with several other notable musicians. But Eddie was rare. How did a producer NOT raise his or her hand in a meeting a few months ago and explain why they really should seize the moment to pay a proper tribute to Eddie? I mean did they honestly not reach out to his son to have him present at last night’s show? It was certainly amateur hour for whoever produced the show.
Seriously, THIS is all the @RecordingAcad #grammys could give Eddie Van Halen ‘In Memoriam’?? I’m disgusted and they should be ashamed. #EVH #EddieVanHalen #LongLiveTheKing pic.twitter.com/v80nDP27l1
