Over the weekend in Gillsburg, Mississippi, the Department of Transportation installed new exit signs that direct Lynyrd Skynyrd fans to the memorial crash site the claimed the lives of three members of the band. Fans will forever remember that fateful day of October 20th, 1977. Three large stone markers were erected last year at the site, and now signs will make it easier for visitors to find it. It’s actually one of the most visited tourist attractions in the south, drawing in folks from more than 13 countries. Thousands of fans make the trek in an area where cell phone coverage is sparse, so the new signs will make it easier to find.
