On Wednesday evening an explosion occurred at Carmel High School, injuring two. The Carmel Fire Department revealed that the cause of the explosion was a natural gas leak.
The explosion happened on the second-floor in the mechanical room as two people were doing routine maintenance on a boiler, according to IndyStar. The fire department released the images of the subsequent damage to show the severity of the damage.
A Carmel High School maintenance worker and a contractor were taken to the hospital, one with severe burns. There has been no update on either of their conditions.
Additionally, an estimate for the repairs was not given. However, the school may be looking at a price tag in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
