With the horrific news of a bombing last night at a concert in Manchester, England, some parents have had a sleepless night wondering if their child is okay. 22 people were killed and more than 50 injured at an Ariana Grande show, when a supposed suicide bomber struck within the venue. Imagine not knowing if a loved one, especially your child, who’s attending the show is okay? I’m a new parent myself, and I cannot fathom the idea. A UK mom posted on social media, “My daughter Courtney Boyle and her partner Phillip Tron have gone missing tonight in an attack at Manchester. Please share and help find them. I need them home safe.” This was just one of many postings last night, pleading for help. Such a hopeless feeling, I would imagine, not hearing from your child, and knowing that a bombing had taken place at the very venue they are at. Let’s face it, our culture has been violent for centuries. But because of social media and 24 hour news outlets, we hear of these happenings literally within minutes. Knowledge is powerful, but for a parent wondering if their child is safe, it can be debilitating. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Manchester. Godspeed~
