Comedians and fans alike are mourning the loss of a true comic legend. Don Rickles has died of kidney failure. He was 90. Younger fans may recognize his voice as Mr. Potatohead from the ‘Toy Story’ series, but his career spans many decades. Whether you remember watching Rickles on Kelly’s Heroes in the 70s, or the infamous Dead Martin Roasts (back when insulting celebrities was done with class, unlike Comedy Central’s poor excuse of a roast), Rickles made millions laugh. Rolling Stone magazine did a great piece on some of the top one-liners and insults from Don. Here are a few true zingers:
“Clint’s idea of a good time is sitting on a pickup truck watching his dog bark.” –Clint Eastwood Roast, 1986
[to Robin Williams, upon seeing his forearms] “I’ve never met an ape.” –Comic Relief V, 1992
“Orson Welles, this great man was married to a great many women. They’re all flat now.” –The Bob Hope Roast, 1974

Even at the age of 90, Rickles was still working! Here’s an episode of “Dinner With Don”. Supposedly he filmed several episodes with various celebrities, no word on when these will air or what network just yet.
