A Utah couple was a bit surprised when they looked at their hospital bill for the delivery of their son, only to find that they were charged $39.35 to hold their son seconds after he was delivered! The charge is listed as “skin to skin after C-sec.” Talk about being nickle and dimed to death! Well apparently the reason is that an additional nurse was required due to the c-section, and was there to make sure the baby was okay as mom and dad handled their newborn. Wouldn’t you just expect that charge to be included in the cost of delivery? Anyone who’s ever examined their hospital bill knows that most places will charge you for EVERY SINGLE LITTLE THING!
When my wife Jenni gave birth to our son Reed six months ago, the doctor prepared us in the delivery room saying that Reed was defacating during the delivery, which I guess is somewhat common. But to be safe, they were going to have a few extra nurse specialists from their NIC Unit on hand. I could hear the cash register ringing as the doc said that! But of course price was of no consideration in the delivery to make sure my son and wife were both healthy and safe. Holding my son that evening I remember thinking, “You just had to poop right when you were being delivered, didn’t ya?! Couldn’t have waited just 5 more minutes!!”
