For as long as I can remember, it was a tradition at my home listening to the Indy 500 on the radio. And hearing Jim Nabors sing ‘Back Home Again In Indiana’ was just as important as the race itself. Now that Nabors has retired from performing that traditional piece, a vacancy has been left. Until now. Someone posted on Facebook the question, “What’s it gonna take to get Mike Rowe as the replacement?”. Rowe, who is a trained vocalist, replied to the Facebook request saying that he’d do it, and even auditioned for it, singing the tune in his kitchen while recording it! Now he mentions in the video that he’s not from Indiana, but neither was Jim Nabors. Hoping the folks at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway check him out, because Rowe sounds really good!
