If you’ve never been downtown Indianapolis to see the 9/11 Memorial on Ohio street, go. Especially if you have kids or grand children. The memorial site is made up of steel beams that were actually taken from the wreckage of the World Trade Centers. It’s very haunting to see, especially at night. 2,977 victims died on September 11th, 2001…including 9 Hoosiers. Organizers are hoping to expand the Indy 9/11 Memorial to include a piece of Indiana limestone from the Pentagon, which was also struck on that fateful day. Three flagpoles will also be added. Unfortunately funds aren’t available, so the public is being encouraged to help support this memorial expansion.
