Babies crying. It’s natural. Some say it’s beautiful, but let’s face it, after a few minutes of this constant noise, ANYONE is going get distracted and dare I say, annoyed. My son Reed will be four months old this month, and when I hear him cry, I immediately see what’s bothering him. Is Reed hungry? Wet diaper? Time for a nap? Something else? Well Donald Trump is being criticized by some this week for telling a mother who was attending his rally in Virginia to remove the baby. Why? I saw a headline that read, “TRUMP NOT COOL WITH CRYING BABY”. Well who is?! At first as the baby is crying, you hear Trump say, “Don’t worry about that baby. I love babies. I hear that baby crying, I like it. What a baby, what a beautiful baby. Don’t worry, don’t worry. The mom is running around like . . . don’t worry about it.” But after a couple more minutes of the baby crying, Trump says, “Actually, I was only kidding. You can get that baby out of here.” And then he told the crowd, quote, “I think she really believed me that I love having a baby crying while I’m speaking”. And you hear the crowd laughing, because it was a delicate moment. Does Trump allow the baby to keep crying? Or does he (or one of his staff members say or do something?) So, was he wrong? Absolutely not…and I say this with POLITICS ASIDE. Would feel the same if it were at a Clinton rally. As a new father, my wife and I have taken Reed out to restaurants and other places where there are lots of people. When Reed starts crying, if we cannot immediately calm him with a pacifier or by holding him, we get up and go to a lobby or a restroom to check his diaper. Why didn’t the parent of the baby at Trump’s rally do the same? And put yourself in the place of someone attending the rally. You came to hear the speaker. Babies will cry, but to just think you’re gonna put up with it is silly. It’s distracting and rude. But the media loves to make a mountain out of a molehill~
