This year to celebrate the 100th running of the ‘Greatest Spectacle In Racing’, fans will join the winning driver with what hopefully will be the World’s Largest Milk Toast at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway! American Dairy Association Indiana General Manager Deb Osza explained, “We will be right here at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on race day, all of us, helping distribute 100,000 of ice-cold milk to all of the race fans”. How cool that 100,000 fans will be able to hold up their bottle of milk and toast not only to this year’s winner of the Indy 500, but also the 100 year old race!

So how did the tradition of milk and the Indy 500 cross paths? It was back in 1933 when winning driver Louis Meyer asked for a cold glass of buttermilk after the second of his three wins. You might also be surprised to learn that Indiana has over 1,200 dairy farmers, who take great pride in providing milk and dairy products to Hoosiers.
More details to come on how you can get a free bottle of milk if you’re attending this special race in May. Also be sure to pick up one of the commemorative bottles of milk as we get closer to the 100th running of this year’s Indy 500!
