In Sarasota, Florida, a piano sits outside in front of a pub. People walking by might run their fingers across the keys and think nothing of it, but one homeless man has gained a bit of fame and attention when he was recently recorded playing on it. This is Donald Gould, a 51 year old retired Marine, who studied music at Michigan Springs Arbor University, but didn’t quite finish his degree. Donald has had a rough life: his wife committed suicide in ’98, he’s used drugs and like so many of our military vets, has been homeless. But he’s surviving. Well social media has brought Donald a lot of attention, and love, thanks to this video of him playing the Styx classic, “Come Sail Away”. It’s been viewed over 6 MILLION times! A GoFund Me page, here: http://www.gofundme.com/yc3p2e6 , has received almost $30,000 as of this blog. Money that will hopefully help Donald. He has talent, and under that beard and rough exterior lies a beautiful soul. One that has seen hard times. But music has a way of healing some people. Please consider donating to Donald.
