…I like Johnny Depp as an actor. One of his other passions is music, playing the guitar with big names like Aerosmith, Willie Nelson, Oasis, Alice Cooper and others. He’s performed before huge crowds, recorded an album or two. But Depp hates to see actors use their star power to become musicians. Uh, how’s that? Depp commented to the Sydney Morning Hearld,
"That whole idea for me is a sickening thing, it's always just made me sick.
"Anybody with a certain amount of success . . . you can go out and start a band and capitalize on your work in other areas. I hate the idea, 'Come see me play the guitar because you've seen me in 12 movies.' . . . It shouldn't be [that way]."
Bit of a double standard wouldn’t ya say Johnny? I mean, no I’ve never heard Depp’s music, but the only reason I’m talking about him is that he is one of Hollywood’s biggest actors. And I would imagine music lovers would most likely check out Depp in a concert or on an album, because of his acting credentials. He’s no Eric Clapton or Slash. Johnny is an actor, calling out other actors for wanting attention for playing music. He went on to try and explain:
"I've been very lucky to play on friends' records, and it's still going. Music is still part of my life . . . but you won't be hearing 'The Johnny Depp Band.' That won't ever exist."
It would appear that Depp is taking a shot at actors like Russell Crowe, Jack Black and Jared Leto. I’m sure they couldn’t care less of what the silly looking pirate with the guitar is saying~
