… The surviving members of the Grateful Dead are ready for one last hurrah. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Dead, so Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Phil Lesh and Bill Kreutzmann will perform three final shows. The dates for this goodbye to a legendary band will be July 3rd, 4th and 5th, taking place in Chicago at Soldier Field. The last dead show was almost 20 years to the day, July 9th, 1995, also at Soldier Field. Dead fans will remember the horrible news of Jerry Garcia passing away a few weeks later. The grand finale has been titled, “Fare Thee Well; Celebrating 50 years of the Grateful Dead”. As of now, a couple of special guests are scheduled to join the Dead, including Bruce Hornsby and Trey Anastasio of Phish.
