… Of all the stories I’ve reported on with Front Page Music News, this is by far thee most bizarre! A little over a decade ago, Rick Springfield was doing a show at the New York State Fair. A 34 year old fan, Vicki Calcagno, alleges that Springfield “struck her with his buttocks”. You might wanna re-read that sentence and take a moment with it. Buttocks. Not a hand or a foot. Apparently the singer fell into the crowd and his buttocks hit the woman on the head. She’s claiming, "knocked her unconscious and led to serious, disabling and permanent injuries." Now, don’t misunderstand me, I’m not making light of this woman’s injuries, but it’s the fact that Rick’s buttocks is being called out. This has been an issue on and off over the last decade, and yesterday they returned to court. According to witnesses, Vicki’s attorney pressed Springfield pretty hard when he was testifying on the stand, even bringing him to tears. Rick explained,
"I get emotional sometimes."
I’m not guessing there was a mosh pit at a Rick Springfield concert, where Rick was throwing himself into the crowd. But then again, I wasn’t there. But if the singer did indeed fall onto this woman, even if it was accidental, causing her bodily injuries, he should be held accountable. Surly he has insurance or his management company does in a worst case scenario like this one. Cut your losses Rick and settle.
