… The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ‘Class of 2015’ has been announced!
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble, Bill Withers, Lou Reed, Green Day, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band have been selected to join the ranks in the Hall of Fame, come spring. Ringo Starr will also be given the Award for Musical Excellence. The other members of The Beatles have already been inducted as solo entertainers over the years. Ringo commented to Rolling Stone magazine saying,
“This means recognition to me. And it means, finally, the four of us are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame even though we were the biggest pop group in the land, though now it all looks funny in black and white.”
What’s surprising is that Sting did not make it. Neither did War or Nine Inch Nails. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has criticized for years in overlooking certain musicians, like KISS. How many years did it take to finally give them the honor? Artists are eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their first album or single.
