According to TMZ, the upcoming “Joker” movie starring Joaquin Phoenix will not be played in one theater in Aurora, Colorado. In 2012, a mass shooting took place in that very theater, specifically the room showing “The Dark Knight Rises.” This may be out of respect for those victims or in fear or a repeat incident.

Reactions were mixed on the theater’s decision. Some folks think of this as letting fear and/or the shooter win and are not impressed with the theater. Others saw this as just a minor inconvenience that wouldn’t bother them in the long run.

In light of the upcoming release, family members of the shooting victims penned a letter to Warner Brothers asking them to lean into promoting gun safety after the 2012 tragedy. They asked that the company not support political candidates that benefit from the National Rifle Association.
