Eskanazi is looking for volunteers to cuddle babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This would allow the babies more one-on-one attention and has positive effects on their heart rate and sleeping. The program is designed around parents that can’t stay at the hospital all the time during the babies’ prolonged stays. The hospital was awarded $10K from the No Baby Unhugged Hospital Hugging Grant from Huggies. The funding will allow them to train volunteers and to buy rocking chairs and soothing music.
Volunteers would be required to submit to a background check and be non-smokers. They wouldn’t be allowed to walk around with babies or kiss them. If you would like to be considered, click this link: Cuddle Buddies Volunteer Application
