People’s hearts broke around the country last month when Tyler Trent passed away from Osteosarcoma. Tyler was known for his positive spirit and his love of the Boilermakers.
There’s no doubt Tyler’s presence will always live on at Purdue University. But, the West Lafayette campus is going a step further and working on a physical memorial to honor him.
“I think it is entirely appropriate,” school president Mitch Daniels told Wish TV. “Now, it is just a matter of trying to determine the best and most tasteful and appropriate way to remember him.” Apparently they are already focusing in on one particular idea yet to be shared.
Many Purdue fans suggested on Twitter to create a statue outside Ross-Ade Stadium. That way Tyler Trent can always be the first in line for the games.
Consider this my official petition to @PurdueSports to build a statue outside of Ross-Ade Stadium in honor of @theTylerTrent. Tyler represented everything it means to be a Boilermaker in the purest of forms. I think this picture should be the basis for the statue tent included. pic.twitter.com/nxNFvvVO35
