Today will be filled with a mixture of emotions for the Southport Police Department and Lt Aaron Allan\’s family. It was one year ago today that the Police Officer of the Year was killed in the line of duty. He\’ll be remembered with a beautiful memorial to be unveiled later at 2:00 at the new police headquarters. Lt Allan walked his son to the bus stop that fateful morning of the shooting, not knowing this would be the last time. His wife Stacy has now created a Facebook page, below, encouraging parents and grandparents to snap a photo of themselves walking their kids to the bus stop or just celebrating their \’first day\’ of school.
